«Our country has been paying dearly for many years now for populism and elitism. Division and toxicity. The time has come to overcome those who do not know how to build bridges but only how to tear them down, so that an era of fruitful political dialogue may dawn, which will respond to real social issues with an eye on the future and not on the ballot boxes. That will serve sustainable economic growth, accountability, the independence of institutions, social justice and national dignity», Nikos Androulakis underlines in his New Year's message.
The President of PASOK-Movement for Change said that «since 2010, our country has been experiencing a continuous series of crises, inequalities have increased and almost half a million young people have sought a better life abroad».
As Mr.Androulakis points out, «the only realistic and necessary political choice is to support society with bold decisions that will distribute the burden of the crisis in a fairer way and with integrated policies to ensure a decent standard of living and prospects for all Greeks.
Androulakis argues that in order to reverse this negative spiral, «which is mortgaging the future of the country», we need a new growth model that will create many good jobs and lay the foundations for a resilient economy and a just society.
At the dawn of 2023, the President of PASOK-Movement for Change declares his determination to fight to revive the hopes of the new generation for a better, fairer and more creative future.
He added that we must «make a complete break with clientelistic attitudes and behaviours that lead to stagnation and decline and bring out a new political ethos and values that build a new relationship of trust with the Greek people».
He also notes that last year war returned to Europe again with Putin's illegal invasion of Ukraine, leaving behind thousands of dead and millions of refugees, and stresses: «At the same time, revisionism is also growing in our neighbourhood, as evidenced by Turkey's continued violations of international law. This is why we must defend our sovereign rights with unity and determination throughout time.
