Kythira, July 22, 2025 — State of Emergency was declared in flight by the crew Olympic Air Flight OA42, as we have been informed, shortly before landing on Kythira One of the two engines on the ATR 72-600 aircraft was shut down, causing concern among passengers and prompting action by air traffic control authorities and the «Kythira State Airport – Alexander Onassis.».

According to the latest information, the scheduled flight from Kythira to Athens will not be operated by the same aircraft, which remains on the ground for a technical inspection. Flight OA42 has been replaced by the aircraft on flight OA3008 (Olympic Air ATR-72), which was dispatched immediately to pick up the returning passengers.
