Analysis: Turkey and hunger in the 10 major threats to humanity in 2021

analysis, classifies the neighbour and its revisionist policy among the forces that could upset the balance of the planet in the new year, while hunger, thanks to covid-19, is plaguing large parts of the world.

Η Turkey is on the list of the top ten threats to global stability in 2021. This is the conclusion reached by an analysis of the Mathew J. Burrows, Robert A. Manning for the https://www.atlanticcouncil.org !

They write:

“Neo-Ottoman Turkey is becoming increasingly ruthless, more authoritarian, Islamist and expansionist. Turkey under the Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has either intervened militarily or deployed troops in Somalia, Qatar, Libya, Iraq, Syria and the Balkans. Ankara is confronting Russia in Syria, Libya and Azerbaijan, while attacking allies of the USA, the Kurds who are fighting the ISIS.

Turkey deploys the Russian system S-400, which is a threat to the NATO and this triggered sanctions from the US. It has carried out naval provocations in Eastern Mediterranean, in violation of the International Law of the Sea and threatens the Cyprus. Many Arab states see Turkey as a threat, while Erdogan is also challenging the France. Ankara's military claims could trigger conflicts and provoke reactions within NATO, of which Turkey is a member.”.

The same analysis refers to the worst food crisis in decades, which comes as a consequence of of a pandemic of the new coronavirus.

The analysis states the following:

«The worst food crisis in decades is destroying the world. United Nations (UN) warned that the world is on the verge of its worst food crisis in fifty years. The pandemic has disrupted global food supply chains. And with more people falling into extreme poverty as a result of the economic damage suffered by the COVID-19, the rise in food prices could not have come at a worse time.

The UN predicts that more people will die from malnutrition related to COVID and related diseases than from coronavirus. This does not take into account the cost to those who survive. Childhood malnutrition has lifelong psychological effects. The World Food Programme believes that Yemen, South Sudan, Nigeria and Burkina Faso may already be suffering from famine conditions.

Afghanistan, Cameroon, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Congo, Congo, Ethiopia, Haiti, Lebanon, Mali, Mozambique, Niger, Niger, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Venezuela and Zimbabwe are not far behind. Even in advanced economies, the poor suffer from higher food prices at a time of high unemployment. In the United States, more than one in five households are now food insecure».
