The joint tourist and resource exploitation of the Aegean Sea proposes the Turkish Defence Minister, in statements to journalists after the extraordinary meeting of ministers NATO Defence.
Asked about the latest state of Greek-Turkish relations, Houloussi Akar replied, «With Greece, there have been positive and constructive conversations on current affairs. We put our issues on the table honestly, openly, honestly and transparently.».
Recalling that the first and third of the meetings on Confidence Building Measures between the Defence Ministries of the two countries took place in Athens, the second in Turkey, Akar noted that it is now Turkey's turn for the fourth meeting.
Ο Akar said that they are waiting for the Greek delegation in Ankara for the meeting regarding the Confidence Building Measures and that he discussed this issue in his meeting with Greek Defence Minister Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos.
«This is important for the prosperity of the peoples of the two countries and the distribution of the beauty and wealth of the Aegean. There is tourism, fishing and many other riches. We are in favour of their joint exploitation, we have said that. We have received a positive response from our interlocutor in this sense; we expect them to move in this direction. We are constructive and positive. That is our approach.».
