Calendula arvensis L

Annual plant related to the famous medicinal calendula (calendula officinallis) to which many medicinal properties are attributed. (anti-inflammatory, healing, antispasmodic, etc.). In Kythera, wild calendula is known by the name loulakia. I was also referred to it as bovine tongue. The old people used the tender shoots (before they bloomed) in pies and salads. In other parts of Greece it's called necrollourolude, the old woman's adrachti, rooster grass. The name calendula comes from the Latin calendae ( the first five or seven days of each month ) since the plant is in flower most months of the year, and arvum = field
