In a statement, the Koumundourou wonders how 24 hours after the cynical statement of Minister of Development, Adonis Georgiadis for ignoring on the part of the government the recommendations of the infectious diseases to impose a strict lockdown in Thessaloniki before the feast of the city's patron saint, Saint Demetrios, the justice system has not yet intervened.
To recall the big explosion of cases in the city in the months November and December, precisely because of the laxity with which the specific circumstances were dealt with, which led to a near collapse of the Health System in Northern Greece and hundreds of dead.
The statement reads:
«It has been 24 hours since Mr Georgiades» cynical confession that the government ignored recommendations from infectious disease specialists for a hard lockdown before St Demetrios, resulting in the city suffering the most casualties. We did not expect this to establish the criminal responsibility of the government of Mr Mitsotakis for the management of the pandemic. With hundreds of human casualties in Thessaloniki, however, we are waiting to see what else someone has to confess before justice can intervene."
