A draft law of the Ministry of Interior entitled «Municipal Police, Public Market Bodies, simplification of procedures between local authorities and decentralized administrations, arrangements for the normalization of the electoral process of foreign residents and other regulations of the Ministry of Interior» was submitted to the Parliament for voting.»
With provisions of this bill granted cash allowance to workers in mountainous and island municipalities and determine the beneficiaries
In particular, the relevant provisions are as follows:
Article 88
Provision of cash allowance to employees of local authorities - Amendment of par. 1 article 32 of Law No. 4483/2017
In par. 1 of article 32 of Law No. 4483/2017 (A’ 107) the following changes shall be made. a) in the first subparagraph, the beneficiaries of free food and accommodation shall be distinguished into cases; b) in the second subparagraph, the word «facility» shall be replaced by the word «provision»; c) at the end of par. 1, the fourth, fifth and sixth subparagraphs shall be added at the end of paragraph 1 and the second subparagraph shall be replaced by the word "accommodation". 1 shall be worded as follows
«1. The mountain municipalities of Article 1 of Law 3852/2010 (A87), the municipalities with a population of up to 30,000 inhabitants, of which at least fifty percent (50%) of the municipal or community units are characterized as mountainous in the Register of Municipalities, Communities and Settlements of EL.STAT., the island municipalities, the legal entities of these, as well as the O.T.A. b degree to whose territorial area the abovementioned municipalities belong, may provide free food and accommodation:
(a) to their employees, whether permanent or on a private, permanent or fixed-term contract,
b) medical, paramedical and nursing staff of health centres and public hospitals, and staff of the National Centre for Emergency Assistance (NACA),
c) uniformed personnel of the Hellenic Police, the Coast Guard - Greek Coast Guard and the Fire Brigade; and
d) to substitute teachers of primary and secondary education and members of special education staff (SEN) and special auxiliary staff (SSA) who provide service in their areas of jurisdiction.
The benefit referred to in the preceding subparagraph may also be granted to officials seconded to these municipalities to staff their services.
The population is calculated according to the actual population data of the last census.
The benefit referred to in the first subparagraph may be paid in kind and in the form of a cash allowance to cover the relevant expenditure of the beneficiaries.
By decision of the relevant municipal, regional or administrative council referred to in paragraph 1, the following shall be adopted 2, shall specify the manner in which food and accommodation shall be provided.
The total amount of the benefit, in kind and in cash, may not exceed the beneficiaries» expenditure."
