Identification of Foreign Nationals and Arrest of Their Three Smugglers in Kythira

In the operation to locate ninety-four (94) foreign nationals and arrest the three (03) foreign traffickers responsible for their smuggling—aged 30, 29, and 17 years old, in the early morning hours of August 17, 2022.
Specifically, the Kythira Port Authority was notified by the Kythira Chora Police Department of the presence of a significant number of foreign nationals in the “Piso Gialos” area of Kapsali. Coast Guard officers immediately went to the scene-ELAKT, where, with the assistance of a team from the Kythira Police Station, they located a total of ninety-seven (97) foreign nationals (15 women and 82 men) of various nationalities, of whom fifty-five (55) were minors. The individuals were transported to the port of Kapsali, while a motorboat was found on a rocky shore in the aforementioned maritime area, which had been used to transport them.
No marine pollution was detected as a result of the grounding, and all the foreign nationals are in good health.
The 2nd Kythira Port Division of the Neapolis-Vion Port Authority is conducting a preliminary investigation with the assistance of officials from the Directorate of Maritime Border Security and Protection (DAPTHAS) to gather information; meanwhile, the sailboat in question was seized, and the three foreign nationals were arrested on suspicion of being traffickers.
Locating foreigners and arresting their two traffickers in Kythira

Seventy-one (71) foreign nationals were located and two (02) foreign traffickers, aged 41 and 34, were arrested at noon on 17/08/2022 The two traffickers were arrested and taken to the Kythira Police Station, where they were charged with the crimes of aiding and abetting illegal immigration and illegal transportation of foreign nationals.
Specifically, officials from the relevant Port Authority located a boat of unknown origin in the sea area of Kapsali, south of Kythira, with a total of seventy-three (73) foreign passengers (6 women, 46 men, and 21 minors), who, with the assistance of officers from the Kythira Police Station, were safely transported to the port of Kapsali.
The Second Port Authority of Kythira, part of the Port Authority of Neapolis-Vion, is conducting a preliminary investigation with the assistance of officials from the Directorate of Security and Protection of Maritime Borders (DAPTHAS) at an informational level, while the sailing boat in question was confiscated and the two foreigners were arrested as alleged traffickers.
