Attica and Euboea are on alert due to the extreme risk of wildfires tomorrow (Sunday, August 22, 2021).
Specifically, according to the fire risk forecast map issued by the General Secretariat for Civil Protection, the forecast for tomorrow is as follows:
Extreme fire danger – Alert status (risk category 5) in Attica and Euboea.
Very high fire risk (risk category 4) in many parts of the country.
The General Secretariat for Civil Protection states in a related announcement: «We urge everyone to be especially careful and to avoid any actions that could cause a fire, in accordance with the guidelines of the General Secretariat for Civil Protection (https://www.civilprotection.gr/el/dasikes-pyrkagies). If you notice smoke or a fire, immediately notify the Fire Department by dialing 199 or 112. Tomorrow and in the coming days, we must all be especially careful, fully present, alert, and ready to act!
»The Fire Department and all civil protection forces and agencies in the country are on full alert.".
At the same time, the message sent via 112 to residents of Attica and Euboea states the following:
«Extreme fire danger tomorrow, August 22, 2021, in Attica and Euboea. Avoid any activity that could cause a fire. Access to forests and woodlands is prohibited. Avoid non-essential travel. Immediately notify the Fire Department by calling 199 or 112. If you spot a fire, remain on alert.».
