The «INHERIT-MED» programme, led by the Peloponnese Region, is completed on 29 April. In the framework of the programme, which concerns the joint protection of cultural heritage and the natural environment in Europe, the title «INHERITURA area» was awarded to Pavlopetri Elafonisos, while the first works for the promotion of the archaeological site were financed.
With the cooperation of the Region of Peloponnese, the Ephorate of Underwater Antiquities and the Municipality of Elafonisos, and the funding of the project, the first underwater routes in the submerged prehistoric settlement of Pavlopetrios Elafonisos were implemented, with signage and underwater signs that help all swimmers to navigate the archaeological site.
In the framework of the three-day final conference which takes place from 27 to 29/4 at the hotel «Mystras Grand Palace Resort», the Municipality of Elafonisos will have the pleasure of welcoming the partners of the «INHERIT» project from all over the Mediterranean, on Friday 29/4 in the country of Elafonisos. The representatives of the action will be guided to the archaeological site of Pavlopetriou and the ’NATURA 2000« area, while a press conference will be held to mark the end of the project.
«This is an important achievement of the efforts that the Municipality of Elafonisos has been making for many years for the protection and promotion of the cultural heritage and the natural environment of our place», states the mayor Mrs. Eustathia Liarou.
In this effort the D. of Elafonisos invites all the citizens and visitors of the island to be supporters: «It is up to us to protect the ancient settlement, the signs and markers placed, the natural environment and to resist any use that may bring any damage or alteration to the area.»

- We approach on foot
- We do not camp
- We do not lift any object from the sea bed or the shore
- Do not touch the signs and markings (buoys)
- We don't dig
- We do not leave rubbish
- We do not light fires
