With a new decision signed on 2 February 2026, the Mayor of Kythera, Mr. Efstratios Harhalakis, determined the framework, the venues and possible dates of civil weddings for the island, in order to serve the citizens without any problems.

According to the decision (No. 359), the ceremonies will take place both in Chora and Potamos, but also in Antikythera by arrangement, using the appropriately designed halls of the Municipality.

The programme and the venues are as follows:

1. Chora Town Hall

The weddings will be held in Hall «Mayor Artemius Calligeros».

Daily: Any Thursday and Friday.
- Morning hours: 09:00 - 14:00.
- Evening hours: 17:30 - 20:00 (upon request and availability).
Weekends: The ceremonies will take place every second (2nd) and last Weekend of the month.

2. Municipal Hall River

For the Municipal Community of Potamos, the civil wedding hall of the local Municipal Hall has been designated.

Weddings will be held there every first (1st) weekend of the month.

3. Antikythera

Civil weddings can also be performed at the Antikythera Municipal Community Office.

The ceremony is performed only after pre-consultation of the interested parties with the competent Deputy Mayor and the competent official.

Important clarifications

For the ceremonies scheduled the Weekends, the exact time will always be determined after contacting the competent official of the Municipality.
There will be no civil weddings during official national or local holidays.

The decision has immediate effect from its publication in the «Diavgeia» programme».
