The funeral service is underway at the Holy Cathedral of Athens, presided by Archbishop Ieronymos, Archbishop of Athens and All Greece, with the participation of the synodal archpriests-members of the Permanent Holy Synod.
Earlier, current and former royals had arrived, including the Queen of Spain and sister of former King Constantine, Sophia, with her husband, former King Juan Carlos, as well as the late King's other sister, Irene. The reigning kings were greeted at the entrance of the church by the former king's eldest son, Paul. The last to arrive, according to protocol, was the wife of the former king, Anna-Maria.
The government is represented by the Vice President Panagiotis Picrammenos and the Minister of Culture Lina Mendoni. Also present, among others, is the President of the Hellenic Olympic Committee Spyros Capralos.
