The weather will change starting at noon today, with rain and thunderstorms expected in the northern and western parts of the mainland, in the northern Aegean and the Ionian Sea, which in some areas will be accompanied by hail, stronger winds even in mainland areas, and a gradual drop in temperature.
According to the National Observatory of Athens/meteo.gr, starting tomorrow morning, the weather conditions will mainly affect Eastern Central Greece, Thessaly, and the Aegean Sea, while by evening they will be limited to the eastern and southeastern Aegean and will weaken.
In the mountainous regions of the Pindus and Macedonia, at elevations above 1,000 meters, snowfall is expected from the early evening hours today through tomorrow morning. From noon tomorrow until the early evening, snowfall will also occur in eastern Thessaly and Central Greece, reaching areas at an elevation of approximately 800 meters.
Winds are expected to be strong both at sea—where they will reach six to seven Beaufort today and seven to eight Beaufort tomorrow— as well as on the mainland, where they will reach five to six Beaufort in some areas. In particular, the city of Thessaloniki is expected to experience very strong winds from the early hours of tomorrow until noon, with winds reaching six Beaufort at times and particularly strong gusts.
Tomorrow, temperatures in Western Macedonia will range from 1 to 10 degrees Celsius; in the rest of Macedonia and in Thrace, from 3 to 16; in Thessaly from 7 to 17, in Epirus from 3 to 14, in Central Greece from 6 to 17, in the Peloponnese from 4 to 19, in the Ionian Islands from 9 to 13, in the North Aegean Islands from 7 to 15, on the Eastern Aegean islands from 7 to 17, in the Cyclades from 9 to 18, in the Dodecanese from 13 to 18, and in Crete from 11 to 22 degrees Celsius. Note that the lowest temperatures are expected toward the end of the 24-hour period.
Rain, thunderstorms, and possibly hail are expected in Attica starting tomorrow morning, with the most intense conditions expected in the western, northern, and eastern parts of the region. Winds will blow from the northwest at three to five Beaufort, and at midday and in the afternoon, they will temporarily reach four to six Beaufort. Temperatures in central Athens will range from 9 to 17 degrees Celsius, with the low expected toward the end of the 24-hour period.
Cloudy conditions are expected in the prefecture of Thessaloniki until tomorrow morning, after which it will be sunny. Winds will blow from the northwest at three to five Beaufort, and from the morning through the afternoon at four to six Beaufort. Temperatures in downtown Thessaloniki will range from 7 to 12 degrees Celsius.
