Two fire planes and two helicopters began at first light to carry out continuous water drops over the fire front in the Drosia of Achaia, where, according to the fire brigade, the fire situation is improved.
At the same time, their own battle with the flames is also being fought by the ground forces fire brigades, consisting of 180 firefighters with eight teams and 48 vehicles, to bring the fire under control that has been burning since yesterday morning.
Also, throughout the night, firefighting forces managed to keep the flames away from residential areas, especially in the area from Kato Drosia to Drosia, where the situation was more difficult.
Meanwhile, as the mayor of Erymanthos, Theodoros Baris, told the Athens-Macedonian News Agency, «the fire is better this morning, but there are scattered outbreaks, which do not threaten residential areas».
Furthermore, according to the mayor, «the intensity of the winds has decreased and air and ground firefighting forces are constantly operating».
Regarding the damage caused by the fire, the mayor told APE-MPA that «obviously there are damages, which will start to be clearly visible from today».
Regarding the fire in the area Electrics of Patras, according to the Fire Brigade, is contained, but firefighting forces are still operating until it is completely extinguished.
