He was born on 20 August 1928 in Pitsinianika to Dionysis and Kyrani Kalligerou (Protopappas). He was one of four boys in his family. His father Dionysis emigrated to Australia where he established restaurants with his brother. The money he earned was all invested in Kythera in real estate and farmland.
Vassilis Kalligeros worked in Kythera in various businesses - at first as an employee - and then he joined forces with his friends and started his business.
He settled in Athens at a relatively young age and studied as a film projection operator.
He married Anna Panagou - Kalligerou and had a son Konstantinos.
He worked during the golden decade of Greek cinema in the biggest film production companies as a production manager.
Some of them are Clack Films, KOSTAS STRATZALIS (with whom he was best man), FAROS FILM and many others.
In fact, Finos Film asked him to cooperate with them but he refused.

- Light... Water... Telephone, Plots on Installments - Power, Phone, Water and Plots on Installments (1966)
- Uprooted Family (1968)
- The Hustler (1964)
- One Woman, One Love, One Life! (1971)
- He wanted to be King (1967), with participation in the Thessaloniki Festival of the same year
He expanded even more actively into the business of cinema by maintaining cinemas in Athens and its suburbs.
From his films, actors such as Nikos Xanthopoulos, Tolis Voskopoulos and others emerged.
He collaborated with the greatest of them such as Manos Katrakis, Sotiris Moustakas, Kostas Hadjichristou, Thanasis Vengos (with whom he maintained a very close friendship).
During the last years of his career he worked as a projectionist at the Ninnet summer cinema in the area of Anavyssos - Athens. He passed away on January 19, 1989 at the age of 61.
