This paves the way for recruitment in public sector about 2,000 unemployed specific categories covered by the protective provisions of Law 2643/1998 (people with disabilities and their relatives, families with three or more children, families with three children, children of National Resistance fighters, and children of war veterans), according to an announcement by the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs.
The Minister of Labour and Social Affairs, Kostis Hatzidakis, signed the decision specifying the supporting documents that eligible beneficiaries must submit, as well as the procedures they must follow if they wish to apply for appointment to public service positions through the announcements issued under this law.
The next step is for the local OAED offices to issue and publish—by the end of August—the 14 job announcements throughout the country.
The approximately 2,000 positions to be announced have been set aside by ministerial decisions from the total number of positions approved for staffing public services, legal entities under public law, local government agencies, and private-law legal entities that hire staff through ASEP. As noted in the announcement, the most recent corresponding calls for applications were issued in December 2014.
«In this way, a long-standing issue regarding the persons protected under Law 2643/1998 is resolved, and the commitment made by Mr. Hatzidakis made to the National Confederation of Persons with Disabilities (ESAMEA) to “unblock” the necessary procedures. As for the required formal qualifications, candidates are referred, via the notices issued under Law 2643/1998, to the corresponding ASEP notice for each position that has already been published. »The positions cover various fields/specializations and all levels of education (university, technical, secondary, and compulsory),” the announcement notes.
Jobs are categorized by protection level as follows:
– People with disabilities: 500 seats
– Relatives of people with disabilities: 200 positions
– Families with multiple children: 390 spots
– Families with three children: 530 spots
– Children of National Resistance Fighters: 250 spots
– Children of War Disabled Veterans: 220 positions
After the announcements are published, there will be sufficient time to submit applications and the required supporting documents. Candidates must submit their applications electronically—exclusively via the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs’ platform at 2643.yeka.gr— while supporting documents must be submitted in person or mailed to the local OAED offices with jurisdiction over the applicant’s area.
