A significant development for Mylopotamos on Kythira is the publication of the study on erosion control projects prepared by the Reforestation Directorate of the Ministry of Environment and Energy, following the devastating fire of July 2025. The Mylopotamos Public Works Association (SKEM) announced that the projects have already begun, expressing satisfaction with the immediate mobilization, as well as its clear intention to closely monitor progress and ensure faithful implementation of the approved design.
SKEM President Panagiotis Stratigos emphasized that no deviation—whether in quality or quantity—will be permitted, nor a repetition of past mistakes, stressing that the goal remains the complete restoration and revitalization of the village’s natural beauty. «Mylopotamos will be restored to its former state—if not even more beautiful,» he noted in his statement.
