New changes and extension of the tender for unprofitable airline routes, including the one connecting Thessaloniki with the Kalamata and the Kythera, announced the Civil Aviation Authority.
The Civil Aviation competition, although it started with 28 routes, continued with 18 and, following an appeal by SKY Express, is proceeding with 12, while a new procedure is expected for the remaining 6.
Of the 28 routes initially included in the tender, airlines expressed their intention to operate 10 routes without financial compensation, and these were therefore classified as «unprofitable.».
The tender continued for the remaining 18 routes, but SKY Express filed an appeal for six of them, requesting that they be announced individually rather than as clusters. The request was accepted, and so the tender changed again.
The air connection between Kalamata and Thessaloniki and Kythira is included in those for which the tender continues.
For these lines, bids will be submitted, following the fourth extension granted, on November 4 at 5:00 p.m., while the bids will be opened on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at 12:00 p.m.
