More than 40,000 children aged 5-11 years have made appointments for vaccination against Covid-19 and more than 6,000 have already been vaccinated. In the last 10 days more than 500,000 booster dose appointments have been made.
According to the data announced during the briefing on the National Covid-19 Vaccine Coverage Plan, the Secretary General of Primary Health Care, Marios Themistokleous, 16.600.000 vaccinations were exceeded on Monday 20/12. More than 7,360,000 citizens have been vaccinated with one dose, i.e. 70% of the general population and 79.8% of the adult population. The corresponding EU average is 71.9% of the general population and 83.1% of the adult population.
More than 6.900.000 citizens have completed their vaccination, i.e. 65.7% of the general population and 75.2% of the adult population. The corresponding EU average is 67.2% of the general population and 78.5% of the adult population.
Since the announcement of the compulsory vaccination for over 60s, 130,000 first dose has been booked and there are another 20,000 applications for home vaccination and the percentage of over 60s vaccinated and booked an appointment is 88%.
Beneficiaries of the booster are 5,770,000 citizens, 83.7% of the completed vaccinations. 2,900,000, vaccinations have already been administered, 50% of beneficiaries, and 1,317,400 citizens have scheduled their appointment, 23% of beneficiaries.
As Mr Themistocleous said, of the beneficiaries of the booster dose, 88.6% of those over 60 years old have been vaccinated or have made an appointment, while 60.1% of those under 60 years old have been vaccinated or have made an appointment.
In particular, in the age group 85 years and older, 81% have been vaccinated, in the age group 80-84, 90% have been vaccinated, in the age group 75-79, 91.3% have been vaccinated, in the age group 70-74, 91.4% have been vaccinated, in the age group 65-69, 90% have been vaccinated and in the age group 60-64, 87% have been vaccinated.
The home vaccination programme has received 60,000 applications to date and 43,156 people have been vaccinated. Of the pending applications, 20,000 are first instalment applications and the rest are for second and third instalments.
Regarding private doctors, Themistocleous said that 326 have joined the programme, as well as 26 polyclinics and so far more than 20,000 vaccinations have been carried out. Of the private doctors, 54 are paediatricians and have carried out 850 vaccinations in children aged 12-18. Themistocleous called on pediatricians who want to participate in the vaccination program for children aged 5-11 years to apply to the respective Health Region.
Paediatricians participating in the vaccination programme from the first days of next year will be able to administer two vaccines, i.e. both the vaccine for children aged 5-11 years and the vaccine for children over 12 years.
