The countdown has begun for the timely payment of 2025 road tax by vehicle owners, as the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) and the economic team have made it a point not to grant an extension.
The fees have been posted on the MyCAR platform, where you can log in using your Taxisnet credentials; they remain the same as last year.
It should be noted that, according to the new guidelines, the late payment penalty is calculated as follows:
- twenty-five percent (25%) of the road tax amount, if payment is made by January 31, 2025,
- fifty percent (50%) of the road tax amount, if payment is made by the end of February 2025,
- an amount equal to the road tax, in the following cases:
- payable on or after March 1, 2025, or
- partial payment or non-payment of the 2025 Vehicle Registration Fees.
How to print them
In order to pay their vehicle registration fees on time by December 31, 2024, vehicle owners who are required to pay these fees can find the following information:
- using payment codes via the myAADE digital portal (myaade.gov.gr): on the myCAR platform, using TAXISnet codes, via the following path: myAADE > Applications > Tax Services > Vehicles > myCAR > Log in to the Application > Vehicle Registration Fees > Vehicle Registration Fee Notices
- Without TAXISnet codes, via the following path: myAADE > Applications > Tax Services > Vehicles > Road Taxes Without TAXISnet Codes > Log in to the Application, by entering the taxpayer identification number (AFM) and the vehicle’s license plate number.
Taxpayers can also find their payment codes through the myAADEapp, under the option myWallet > Vehicle Registration Fees.
How will you pay for them?
After printing the road tax notice, vehicle owners can then:
- go to an ATM and scan the QR code on the notification, following the on-screen instructions.
- log in to their online banking account and pay using the 23-digit RF code listed on the notice.
- pay at a bank branch or an ELTA office by presenting the payment notice.
In any case, vehicle registration fees cannot be included in the Ministry of Finance’s standard 24-installment payment plan but must be paid using one of the methods listed above.
Simplified Digital Still Image Process
The process for filing a declaration of inactivity has been significantly simplified, allowing taxpayers to complete it electronically, without the need to submit physical documents such as the vehicle registration certificate and license plates. Through the «My Requests» platform on the myAADE portal, taxpayers can submit their application for vehicle immobilization quickly and easily.
The option to file a digital claim also covers cases such as theft, embezzlement, natural disaster, or the death of the owner. In these cases, the process is completed without the need to visit the tax office in person, making it even more convenient for citizens.
