The new data on deaths in our country, the first 30 weeks of 2022, announced on Monday the Hellenic Statistical Authority. The period covered by the data is from Monday 3 January to Sunday 31 July.
According to these figures, deaths in Greece in the first 30 weeks of 2022 amounted to 85,043 (42,670 men and 42,373 women), an increase of 6,26% or 5,011 deaths compared to the same period in 2021.
This data confirms what «scientists and hospital doctors »shout" since the beginning of the summer, about the tragic cost in human lives that Greece is paying due to the complete relaxation of the restrictive measures against the pandemic. And the policy of appeasement does not change as shown by the uncontrolled opening of schools.
It should be noted that Greece has proportionally the highest number of covid-19 deaths per week among EU countries, as shown in Owid's chart of the 10 countries suffering the most losses.
