Very high temperatures of up to 41 degrees, localized rain or scattered thunderstorms over the mainland, mainly in mountainous areas, and winds of up to five Beaufort set the stage for today’s weather.
More specifically, according to the weather forecast from the National Observatory of Athens, today, Wednesday, is expected to be sunny with some cloud cover increasing during the warmest hours over the mainland and gradually spreading to the northern Ionian Sea and the Aegean Sea. There will be local showers or scattered thunderstorms, mainly in the mountainous mainland areas and possibly in the evening in the northwestern Aegean and eastern Thessaly.
Temperatures will range from 24 to 39 degrees in Northern Greece, 24 to 41 degrees in Central and Southern Greece, 23 to 39 degrees in Western Greece (reaching up to 40 degrees in Western Central Greece and the Western Peloponnese), 25 to 37 degrees in the Cyclades, and up to 39 degrees in Crete, 25 to 38 degrees on the islands of the Eastern Aegean and the Dodecanese (locally in Eastern Rhodes up to 39–40 degrees).
Winds will blow in the Aegean from variable directions at light to near moderate speeds of 3–4 Beaufort, and in the southeastern Aegean from northwesterly directions at moderate speeds of 4–5 Beaufort, while in the Ionian Sea, winds will be light from variable directions and, temporarily during the afternoon, nearly moderate from the northwest, 4 Beaufort and locally moderate 5 Beaufort.
Sunny skies with a few clouds, increasing in the northern areas after mid-afternoon, and high temperatures are expected in Attica. Temperatures will range from 27 to 38 degrees Celsius. Winds will be light and variable in direction.
Partly cloudy skies, gradually becoming more overcast with local showers, followed by scattered thunderstorms in the afternoon, are expected in Thessaloniki. Temperatures will range from 26 to 36 degrees Celsius. Winds in the Thermaic Gulf will be light and variable in direction.
