“Mr. Mitsotakis has been running the country for the past four months, during Europe's longest and most unsuccessful lockdown” emphasizes in a statement the SYRIZA - MA, following the government's announcement of the new measures.
“After four months of text messages, travel restrictions, and business closures, the government announced that it would address the new surge in cases:
– by banning travel from one municipality to another for sports purposes—which had previously been permitted—in order to cover up the fiasco of Mr. Mitsotakis’s bike ride on Mount Parnitha, which took place without any protective measures.
– ”and by extending weekend business hours by one hour, a measure that has caused confusion at supermarkets,” notes SYRIZA, adding:
“We don’t know what’s more frightening: that they came up with these measures to tackle the pandemic, or that they’ve been touting them as ‘smart' for so many days.”.
“A year later, Mr. Mitsotakis is making exactly the same mistakes, idly watching the third wave of the pandemic sweep in, and ultimately refusing to face the truth: That As long as they do not take measures for large workplaces and public transportation where people are crammed together, as long as they do not mandate testing to give us an accurate picture of the spread, and as long as they do not require private clinics to assist the National Health System, the hospitals will continue to be overwhelmed and the pandemic will remain out of control“, the official opposition concludes in its statement.
