Interview with Harhalakis on ERT: Projects, challenges, and an open stance for a fourth term

The mayor of Kythira and Antikythira, Efstratios Charhalakis, appeared on ERT's «Ta Endimo» program in a discussion dedicated to the island's unique characteristics, challenges, and major projects. The mayor spoke with journalist Maria Maglara about the unique historical and administrative character of Kythira, the development potential offered by the Region of Attica, and the important projects underway—from the sewerage system and new road studies to the prospect of upgrading the airport and the main port. He made special mention of the major project on Antikythira, the National Observatory for Climate Change, which could change the fate of the small island.

Among the many topics discussed, the journalist asked Mr. Charhalakis about the possibility of a new candidacy. The mayor declined to comment, stating that «the question is hypothetical.» This response differs from the clear statement he made in December 2023, during his inauguration, when he said that he would not be a candidate for a fourth term.

  1. Well done!
It's good to say nice things on television.
The mayor was amazing on TV.
If he ultimately does not run for a fourth term, he could become a TV presenter. Let's say on Ionian TV, which the municipality has collaborated with, and someone will surely support him.
