The trial for the death of Eleni Topaloudi continues at the Mixed Jury Court of Appeal

The trial continues today before the Mixed Court of Appeal of the two defendants for the rape and the brutal murder of the student Eleni Topaloudi in November 2018 in Rhodes.

The trial, after two sessions that did not proceed to the hearing, is expected to begin today with the first testimonies of witnesses when the court will call to the stand the parents of the student who met a martyr's death at the hands of the two defendants.

The trial began on 14 February with only the 24-year-old accused, of Greek origin, present in the dock, as his 22-year-old co-defendant, of Albanian origin, declared that he did not wish to attend the court.

The two defendants have been sentenced in the first instance to life imprisonment and an additional 15-year sentence. According to the indictment, they raped the student with the threat of a knife and hitting her savagely on the head with punches and an electric iron and then threw her beaten on a rocky beach in the Lindos area of Rhodes while she was alive. .

During the previous session, when the trial was interrupted due to the illness of a juror, the mother of Eleni Topaloudi, Koula Armoutidou was outraged about the second interruption in a row. The victim's parents are forced to travel from Didymoteicho to attend the trial, leaving Eleni's brother behind.
