In particularly high tones the debate continues in Kythira, with the faction «All Together, Kythira - Antikythera» to go on the counterattack, responding to what the Mayor recently accused.
At the centre of the criticism is the process of voting on the 2025 budget, with the opposition denouncing «institutional aberration» and the surprise introduction of 25 changes in the absence of the Mayor from the Council. At the same time, the statement raises serious issues of transparency and good governance, referring to «panic» and «arrogance» of the Municipal Authority, while recalling pending cases and decisions of the Justice that - as it claims - remain unfulfilled.

Institutional response to the Mayor's bulletin: Panic and arrogance are not hidden
Mr Mayor, your recent statement is not a political response, but a tantrum, full of personal attacks and deliberate distortion of reality. Your tone does not show confidence, it shows panic.
When it comes to the 2025 budget, the facts are clear. The plan that came to the City Commission was passed because it included everything that had been discussed and agreed upon. What you are hiding is that you did not attend the City Council meeting, that is, the final and competent approval body, where you introduced 25 changes unexpectedly during the introduction of the matter as read to the body by the Director of Finance of the Municipality of Kythera, without information, unexpectedly, and without institutional order.
The budget that was finally put to a vote was not the one presented to the Municipal Committee. It was substantially altered. This is not administration, this is institutional aberration and a mockery of the City Council. Your attempt to portray its passage as a supposed vote against projects, payroll or social spending is politically dishonest. The opposition does not give blank cheques, it exercises control. That is called democracy.
I never sought any toxicity. Toxicity is concealment. It is when letters, requests and official documents go unanswered because the answers are compromising. It is when serious problems, such as those formally denounced about daycare by the PTA, instead of being addressed, are attempted to be buried to make it appear that «nothing happened.» This is not administration, it is manipulation that raises legitimate questions.
Toxicity is the proposed decisions, the exclusions, the silencing and the operation of the Municipality as a closed system, as well as manipulations that raise legitimate questions of unequal treatment, even in matters of service.
Your personal attacks and judgments of alleged disintegration say more about you. My cadres are present, united and active, that you would wish otherwise does not make it a reality. Instead of name-calling, answer on the substance, especially when you are faced with a number of open cases before the Greek judiciary, involving specific administrative acts and personal manipulations, and you know very well who controls what and why.
And for the record, there is a criminal conviction against you for libel by the Greek Justice. Nevertheless, you persist in the same practice. Have you learned nothing or do you think that the decisions of the judiciary always concern others and never you?;
And let's get one last thing straight, because the word that describes you here is one, arrogance. It is well known, and not even the stones are unaware of it, that you cannot speak and wag your finger at me, when there is still an unenforceable court decision next to you, concerning an elected official of the Municipal Authority, raising serious questions about the way the administration respects and applies the decisions of the judiciary.
In such circumstances, appearing to be an honorific and wagging your finger is not a political stance. It is a disgrace. And the more you persist in this arrogance of power, the more its true content will be revealed.
