Next Monday, 10 May, the application platform for catering businesses to apply for the subsidy programme for funds for the purchase of raw materials for their restart is expected to be activated.
The total amount is €330 million and according to government representatives, one in two (around 34,000) businesses in the sector are expected to be strengthened.
According to press reports, the measure applies to all businesses, even those operating on a franchise basis. The maximum amount of aid is set at 7% of the total turnover for 2019, while it cannot exceed EUR 100,000 and the total amount will be non-refundable and irrevocable.
Eligible for inclusion and funding will be businesses that :
- show a decrease in annual turnover in 2020 compared to 2019 greater than or equal to 30%.
- be subject to submission of periodic VAT returns.
-for businesses set up in 2019 for the fall in turnover, an equal number of operating days shall be calculated.
-food service establishments that started in 2019 but they had no revenue in the year, will be automatically put into action.
-businesses that opened the 2020, they will automatically be put into action.
Applications will be submitted through the Information System for State Aid (SIS) of the Ministry of Development and Investment, at www.ependyseis.gr and applications will be accepted until July 31, 2021 with the first disbursements expected, if the platform opens next Monday, at the end of May.
Note that the amount of the subsidy for each business cannot exceed 70% of the sum of the amounts of Codes 361, 363 and 364 of the 2021 periodic VAT returns. Also, it cannot exceed 100% of the sum of the amounts indicated in Code 367 of the 2021 periodic VAT returns. Finally, businesses must spend the grant by 31-12-2021. The audit will be based on the 2021 periodic VAT returns and the expenses declared.
