Skopelos ranks among the top ten most popular tourist destinations worldwide that have been associated with timeless cinematic hits, Skopelos ranks among them, according to a major survey conducted online and on social media, as highlighted in a recent article by the British newspaper Mirror.
At the top of the list are regions in New Zealand, Scotland, England, the U.S., and Ireland, where the films «The Lord of the Rings,‘ »Harry Potter,« Stephen King’s »The Shining,« »The King’s Speech,« »Sleepless in Seattle,« ’Twilight,» «Star Wars,» and «Joker.‘.
Skopelos ranks 10th for the film adaptation of the musical «Mamma Mia.».
According to the survey, the destination is performing exceptionally well on Instagram hashtags, with 220,000 views, and is impressing travelers with its “Mamma Mia” themed tours on the island. It should be noted that during the same period, Skopelos and the popular musical, dance, and culinary show *Mamma Mia: The Party* were voted the second-best entertainment option for Londoners during the winter, among 20 original ideas for entertainment.
This was preceded by a special promotional collaboration online and on social media between the Municipality of Skopelos and the organizers of the successful show. For *Mamma Mia! The Party*, an entirely new, picturesque island-style set has been created, featuring narrow alleys, fountains, houses, and a tavern that evoke Skopelos right in the «heart» of London, at the ultra-modern O2 multipurpose venue! «Through creative promotional efforts, we strive to keep travelers’ interest alive regarding the connection between Mamma Mia and Skopelos. The unique tours of the island, visiting locations where the movie was filmed, have also contributed to this. The forecasts for visitor numbers in 2023 are optimistic.”.
