Underwater wedding photo shoots are making a big impression on Alonnisos as part of the wedding ceremonies organized by the municipality on the island’s seabed. «We’re enhancing our invitation to visit Alonnisos with initiatives that bring travelers closer to nature during important moments in their lives,» said Alonnisos Mayor Petros Vafinis. It should be noted that the first underwater wedding took place last August, paving the way for a new service for which there is already demand to plan new weddings on the exotic Sporades island this summer.
«In order to encourage young couples to exchange vows of eternal love on the seabed, we have partnered with diving centers on the island to provide free diving equipment and the necessary training courses to the soon-to-be-weds. An underwater wedding is a unique, sustainable experience at virtually no cost. »The response from couples has been encouraging and justifies our efforts to create a new wedding market,“ said Mr. Vafinis. In addition to underwater weddings—or regardless of the type of wedding— the destination also encourages underwater wedding photo shoots, as the results from the first underwater wedding ”album” are truly outstanding.
