“Slicing and dicing” from the MEGA newscast of November 12 to the government and Bambi Papadimitriou and the Georgiades confession. Rania Jima: When we talk about lives being lost, can one simply say “excuse me wrong?”
The political controversy that has erupted after Adonis Georgiades' statements on the opening of tourism and how much this has cost the country the outbreak of the second wave of the pandemic, commented on MEGA's main newscast and Rania Tzima, the Nikos Felekis, journalist at «PMO THEMA» and Babis Papadimitriou, Member of Parliament for New Democracy.
The Minister of Development made a statement that caused reactions, Adonis Georgiades, as he essentially linked the opening of tourism in the summer, with the rapid increase in cases and the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic in the country that led to the lockdown.
Asked about Mr Georgiades« admission of the government's mistake, Babis Papadimitriou said: »there is no way to avoid making mistakes in the estimates".
«We have listened to the infectious disease experts but even they can't be accurate in how a person behaves», stressed the member of the Southwest, who spoke of «collective mistake» in which «we are all responsible».
«The state is to blame because it has to be more strict than the citizen and take faster action,» he said, referring to the measure of generalized use of the mask that should have been taken earlier.
«The estimates did not show this sudden rise,» he reiterated. «We shouldn't be making excuses for ourselves, we have a government every now and then to throw something at it,» he noted, separating his position from that of Adonis Georgiades on the opening of tourism.
For his part, Mr. Felekis said that the lockdown should have been imposed earlier.
«Apart from the fatigue of the citizens, there is no more trust», noted the journalist in «FIRST THEME».
«What Mr Georgiades said is true. Instead of shifting the blame to the citizens, the government should look at its own responsibilities. It had 8-9 months to prepare the ICUs», he added, referring to the government's negligence.
He noted that there must be cooperation between the ruling party and the opposition, while criticising the behaviour of Pavlos Polakis.
