Plevris: In autumn the updated vaccines for «Omicron» in Greece

On the course of the pandemic, the minister said that the coronavirus wave that prevailed in June and July has flattened out and is in a decline

In August, approval is expected to be given for the vaccines against coronavirus which are updated as regards the Omicron mutation, which will protect against disease and underlying disease and infection, according to the information and assessment of pharmaceutical companies, the Health Minister told SKAI 100.3 today, Thanos Plevris.

He added that shortly afterwards these vaccines will include variants 4 and 5.

For this reason, he pointed out, Greece has shifted most of its orders to the last quarter of the year, like most European countries, from the autumn onwards, as we will need more vaccines and more up-to-date vaccines.

Asked whether we are in the phase of developing vaccines that will be in the form of nasal sprays or inhaled, Mr.Pleyris said that there are many efforts and studies at many levels, but he does not know how close we are to them, as it is a purely scientific issue.

On the course of the pandemic, the minister said that the coronavirus wave that prevailed in June and July has flattened out and is in a downturn, while in the coming weeks a drop in cases is expected and a greater de-escalation is expected.

He said that a new wave is expected from September, but we have vaccination coverage, antiviral drugs in widespread use, for which applications reach 500 every day, and more complete treatment protocols.

Regarding the personal doctor, he stressed that participation is free of charge and the logic of the institution is that the citizen can register now, knowing that his or her electronic medical record will be formed in the coming months and a doctor of his or her choice will monitor his or her health and be able to direct him or her.

He made it known that 25% of doctors along with individuals who were eligible to join, joined, noting that this is 3. 000 doctors.

Finally, he said that for Attica and the South Aegean, citizens and doctors will be able to register from September so that doctors have more time and there is greater participation.
