It is only a matter of time before the platform for doctors to submit requests for the new antiviral treatment for COVID-19 patients in high-risk groups begins operating.
The procedure to be followed is the same as that for the administration of monoclonal antibodies. The Commission evaluates applications within a few hours. It should be noted that the antiviral pills have received a positive opinion, and until the European approval process is completed, the treatment may be administered with the patients’ written consent.
According to the data available so far, treatment will be administered for 5 days and should begin within the first 5 days after the onset of symptoms and diagnosis of the disease. Doctors who prescribe the treatment will also monitor the course of the disease on the 7th day of treatment and on the 28th day.
