«Crisis management is the new normal», said the Deputy Prime Minister and Government Spokesman Stelios Pecas, who participated this morning in the online discussion «14th Corporate Communication Conference», organized by corpcom.gr.
The government representative was welcomed by the public relations and communication manager of corpcom.gr and moderator of the debate, Dimitris Constantello, and then answered the questions of the content director of the «diaNeOSIS» Theodoris Georgakopoulos and the editor-in-chief of the magazine «Marketing Week», Katerina Polymeridou.
The discussion revolved around the issues of government communication and crisis communication management, focusing on the pandemic period Covid-19. Petsas stressed that «crisis management is the new normal». He described the government's multidimensional communication strategy that, in addition to the regular regular briefings by the government spokesman, put in the foreground the daily briefing by experts at the scientific and operational level, complemented by a communication and information campaign in the media of all categories. He also outlined the government's strategy to achieve the vaccination project, an unprecedented undertaking that will be rolled out in the first half of 2021.
The issue of utilisation of the Recovery Fund with emphasis on reversing the «brain drain». As Mr.Petsas pointed out, the issue of the Recovery Fund has two dimensions: «one dimension is the phase of preparation which we have successfully passed as a country. The plan that we have submitted to the European Commission, he assessed that it is one of the best both in its structure and its targeting. The second phase, that of implementation, is judged in the details. The effort of this phase is unprecedented, since we are forced to absorb a lot of money in a short period of time, without relying on the traditional large infrastructure projects that accounted for a high percentage of the absorption of the ESPA, but now the focus is also on very large but more complex projects, for example concerning “Green Growth” and “Digital Transformation”». He also pointed out the the need for synergy between economic and social actors, to achieve high quality investments in Greece that will help reverse the brain drain. Regarding the delays in the approval of the Development Fund at European level, Mr: «I express my confidence that Greece and Europe as a whole will overcome the political blockages and we will move forward with targeted use of the money so that we can succeed.».
Finally, the discussion analysed Greece's effort, with the contribution of Steve Vranakis, to re-establish the country in the world. The government spokesman said that this is an excellent work that was “unfairly affected” by the timing due to the coronavirus, which resulted in a delay in the implementation of this effort, both in Greece and internationally. «From the beginning of 2021, we will promote this great and cohesive effort, so that Greece will reintroduce itself to the world as a modern and confident country.».
