Patras: Contradictions between mother's statements and official medical documents

It seems that the Police and hospitals are now «aiming» in the same direction, in relation to the mysterious case of the death of the three children in Patras.

The information, from the hospitals where the girls were hospitalized, «arrive» at breakneck speed to the press offices, while ELAS officers are obviously trying, in every way, to get to the «end of the thread» and solve the «mystery».

The mystery

The police are examining with great care the differences between the statements of the mother of Roula Pispirigou and the medical documents that have come into their possession.

For Malena, for example, the mother had testified that her 3.5-year-old daughter died at 16.40 in the afternoon of 13 April 2019 while she was sleeping next to her: «I spoke to her, I called Malena, Malena, I took from her hands the cloths that she was in the habit of holding in her sleep and I ran to the nurses» room to call them. I didn't find them, I went to the doctors' room and again found no one. In a room I heard voices and I ran... No immediate CPR or resuscitation was done... After 10 minutes the ICU doctors arrived and took me out of the room...", she said in her official statement.

However, in the official documents of the case file, which was formed and concluded that there was no medical negligence of the hospital's specialists, another truth is set out. The information inside the Children's says that while the mother speaks of the time of death as 16.40, the medical staff claims that they were informed by the mother at 17.15, 35 minutes later! «He received a call from the girl's mother that the girl is »blue« and that the pump is ‘beating’. An immediate assessment was made. The child was found on the bed in a lateral position! No pulse, with mydriasis, limb hypotonia and cold...’ In fact, CPR was immediately performed and the ICU was called for support.

At the same time, as first revealed by «P», a big question mark arises about the exact time of death of little Iris, who ended up in her house. In her initial statements, the girl's aunt, Demetra, who allegedly located her, said she found her dead at 10.30 in the morning. This was contradicted by the call to the ambulance, which was made at 11.37! The aunt the day after the revelation said she may have been mistaken. However, no one can explain how it is possible that since both sisters woke up at 10.30, they went to see what their girl (the baby) was doing at 11.30!

The first health problems of Georgina appeared in April 2021, when she was admitted for examinations at the Karamandaneio - General Hospital of Patras with spasms. Then, as doctors say, there were full examinations on the nine-year-old without demonstrating any problem. But suddenly and while the girl was again in his ward, without the presence of doctors and nurses (her mother was by her side), she allegedly had a cardiac arrest for an unknown reason.

The girl, who was thought to have died, recovered after eight minutes of unconsciousness, but had suffered severe brain damage. A few days earlier, her mother had posted a video of Georgina dancing and laughing on Facebook. There was nothing to indicate that this girl was in trouble.

Parallel investigation by three forensic experts

Meanwhile, in addition to the investigation being carried out by the Athens Homicide Department, three forensic experts from the Athens office yesterday launched an investigation into the first death, that of Malena in 2019.

They are Nikos Karakoukis, Nikos Kalogrias and Christina Tsakonas who had autopsied one of the girls. The head of the Athens Forensic Service, Nikos Karakukakis, proceeded last Friday, February 26, to set up the scientific committee in order to re-evaluate the purely medical evidence of the child's death.

The three forensic experts will examine all the data from the beginning. Necrotomic findings, toxicological and histological tests, reports and findings of the hospital where the little girl was hospitalized in Athens, will be put under the microscope.

It is no coincidence that the three forensic experts will specifically investigate the circumstances and causes of death of the first of the three children. The death of a child in a family that at the time had two children and later a third came along, raised absolutely no suspicion as to whether anything else might be going on. It was considered a tragic incident that plunged the family into mourning. But when the deaths of the other two girls followed, the perspective changed dramatically.

Homicide starts with Georgina

At the same time in «Homicide» the analysts focus on the death of 9-year-old Georgina, a month ago, as they have all the necessary evidence to unravel the mysterious case and solve it. The main part of the investigation is the last 60 minutes of her life. This is because they believe that whatever the cause of death, if they focus on this particular point in time, they will find the solution to the mystery. So they're trying to reconstruct the scene at all levels to get a clear picture.

Officers will investigate what her clinical picture was, what drugs she took, what she ate and even what her last words were. This is essentially a sort of reenactment of the 9-year-old's last hours, as homicide analysts will find important clues there to solve her mysterious death.

They build the profile of the parents

At the same time, police officers of the Homicide Department have created the parents' profile through their interviews, posts and photos on social media, so that through this process they can penetrate their minds and understand the way they think in order to obtain evidence for both Roula and Manos.
