With an urgent order, the head of the Athens Appeals Prosecutor's Office, Maria Gane, requested that the minutes and yesterday's decision of the Mixed Jury Court (MJC) for Dimitris Lignadis be immediately forwarded to her in order to study the possibility of an appeal.
At the same time, Ms Gane asked the prosecutor, Konstantinos Kountrias, to forward to her immediately his report, which will include his proposals on guilt, sentences and suspension of execution of his sentence, the decisions and their dissenting opinions.
The Athens Appeals Prosecutor's Office will study whether the evidence was properly evaluated and whether the decisions of the majority of the judges are sufficiently justified both for the director's acquittal for one of the two rapes, for the sentences imposed for the two rapes he was convicted of and for his release from prison after the conviction, with the granting of a suspension of his sentence until he is tried by the Court of Appeal.
