Every week the products in the «household basket» will change, and there will be no limit to the amount of products consumers can buy.
This was noted by the Deputy Minister of Development and Investment Nikos Papathanasis, speaking this morning on Antenna TV station.
«There are and will continue to be controls in the market for prices and for cases of obscenity,» Papathanasis said, adding that «the staff of the control services will be increased, with movements and transfers.».
Further, the deputy minister said that from the checks being done, «obscenity is evident in 6%-8% of the market check cases».
Michalis Mousios, president of the Federation of Greek Bakers, intervened in the debate, saying that due to the energy crisis, «hundreds of bakeries have closed and many others are maintained thanks to their «subsidy», through the personal work of two or three members of the baker's family».
Mr. Mousios called for the subsidy for ovens to continue to be reinforced against the price increases in energy prices, while noting that «bread cannot and should not be in the «household basket» and, if frozen bread is included, it must be clearly indicated».
As a reminder, the aim is to start implementing the «household basket» from Wednesday, 2 November 2022.
