Panhellenic examinations 2022: The number of university admissions is announced

The number of places in the central universities is reduced.

In the announcement of the number of university admissions for 2022 it moves the Ministry of Education thus closing the last «pending issue» for the national examinations, which start on June 3. Today in all likelihood or by Monday at the latest Ministry of Education, will end the agony of the candidates who are waiting to know the places, which will be given for the departments, which of interest.

According to information, this year there will be no a significant reduction in the total number of admissions, however, there will be variations by department and cuts in the number of places at the central universities, which will also bring tremendous competition to win the top schools. The minister herself N. Kerameos, Minister of Education has announced a reduction in admissions to central universities and an increase in regional universities, a policy that has been chosen many times in the past. For example, last year the number of places at EKPA at the Aristotle University, the Agricultural University, the University of Economics, the University of West Attica, the University of Thessaly and the Universities of Patras and Macedonia.

Contrast increased the positions at the universities of Democritus, Aegean and Western Macedonia. In 2021, the number of admissions was 77,415, a number that does not seem to change much this year, but candidates will see variations in the departments that will be included in the 2022 computerized form. Under these circumstances, students of the third grade will go to the 2022 Panhellenic examinations having to face a huge competition, the minimum Admission Base, as well as the increased exam syllabus, as the political leadership of the Ministry of Education decided that it should not be reduced. Otherwise, this year an effort will be made so that the results of the Panhellenic examinations will be announced earlier i.e. at the beginning of August and not at the end as was the case in all previous years. The relevant departments of the Ministry of Education have been instructed to ensure that all actions are taken at a faster pace but no announcements have also been made in this regard yet.

Compensation for those who move for the Panhellenic exams outside their place of residence

A compensation of 350 euros will be paid to candidates from the islands and the mainland who will travel (more than 120 km) for the national exams which covers travel, subsistence and accommodation expenses . Beneficiary becomes the candidate who participates during the regular examination period, in all the declared in the application - participation in the Panhellenic examinations courses. Candidates who will be travelling to the test centres in order to sit the tests in special courses. In addition, it is specified that a candidate who takes part in the repeat tests will not become a beneficiary.

Beneficiaries of the above scheme

Specifically, become beneficiaries candidates for admission to higher education, who graduate in the same year in which they participate in the Panhellenic examinations and are examined in a school (examination centre) other than the one in which they applied for admission to the Panhellenic examinations, provided they meet the following requirements: A. They are candidates of the General or Vocational High Schools of the Country and they move: -from the school units of the island Country to other Examination Centres of the island Country. Η no compensation shall be paid if the move takes place within the same island and the distance between the two school units (i.e. the school unit where the application form is submitted and the Examination Centre) is less than 120 km.

  • from the school units submitting the application - declaration of the island country to other Examination Centres on the mainland.

  • from mainland schools to other mainland Examination Centres and the distance between the two schools (i.e. the school submitting the application.

-declaration of participation in the Panhellenic Examinations and the Examination Centre) is greater than 120 km. Β. They are candidates of the General or Vocational High Schools of the Country with disabilities or special educational needs and they move : from the school units of the island Country to the Examination or Special Examination Centres of the island Country. The allowance is not paid if the movement takes place within the same island and the distance between the two school units (i.e. the school where the application - registration for the Panhellenic examinations is submitted and the Grading Centre or Special Examination Centre) is less than 120 km. - from the school units on the islands to the Examination Centres or Special Examination Centres on the mainland. - from school units on the mainland to the mainland's Assessment Centres or Specialised Examination Centres if the distance between the school unit and the Assessment Centre or Specialised Examination Centre is greater than 120 kilometres.
