Political questions on the selection of the new Secretary General
The municipal faction «All Together, Kythera-Antikythera» welcomes the new Secretary General of the Municipality of Kythera and Antikythera and wishes him good strength in the demanding tasks he undertakes.
The position of the Secretary General is the highest administrative position in a Municipality and requires substantial experience, administrative competence, knowledge of the local government function and strong technocratic characteristics, as the coordination of services and the effective operation of the Municipality depends to a large extent on it.
Age alone is of course not a disadvantage. However, when such a critical position is not accompanied by a clear picture of administrative experience and proven technocratic competence, political questions are understandably raised in the local community.
Without substantial experience, a Secretary General can hardly manage complex administrative, financial and technical issues, resulting in weak planning, wrong priorities, delays and dependence on third parties for the operation of the Municipality.
Citizens today demand efficiency, seriousness and real solutions to the problems of everyday life. The problems of the Municipality are not solved by choices that create political debates and questions, but by meritocracy, administrative capacity and a substantial plan for the place.
