Scandalous the way a government minister tried to «slip» out of his loan obligations, following the tactic of «thou shalt not receive but thou shalt not have».
Specifically and as revealed by the Document, it is the Deputy Minister of Development of the Mitsotakis government Nikos Papathanasis, who has in his portfolio private investment. The latter appears to have refused to pay his EUR 1.4 million loan obligations to Eurobank, even transferring his real estate to his children.
In this way, free of his property and wanting to present himself as «not having», on 25 July 2019 he was faced with the activation of the seizure procedure in the hands of a third party for an amount of 322 thousand euros. At the same time, he owes 51,000 euros to EFKA with the electronic seizure procedure against him being active already since 29-5-2018.
As the revelations show, as early as 2020, Eurobank has been partially vindicated, condemning Nikos Papathanasis for abusing lenders, after he followed the practice of fraudulent transfer of real estate to escape the repayment of his loan.
For three years, then, the fate of the case has remained unknown, with the questions raised being unanswerable. Were there any arrangements for the debt or has it been lost in the «boxes» of justice? Did the government intervene to «save» him from his actions, a la Mr. Piladakis, with a generous haircut on the loan?;
The property of Minister Papathanasis that has been transferred to his children «stands» intact until now with the whole case to be in the «unwritten», while the houses of families go under the hammer for much smaller amounts.
The favourite of the Mitsotakis family who, as an extra-parliamentary deputy minister, soon became deputy minister of development, «lives and breathes» where the name Mitsotakis thrives, having been appointed to state and government positions for decades. In the upcoming elections he will be a candidate in the northern sector of Athens.
