Nikos Hardalias, Regional Governor of Attica, visited Antikythira on Monday afternoon. Mr. Hardalias is visiting our islands as part of two-day official visit. The Regional Governor met with the island’s residents and toured Potamos, Agios Myronas, and Kamarela. On his personal Facebook account, he posted the following:

Today we are in Antikythera, the geographically most remote point in the Attica Region.
We toured the village, which has about 30 permanent residents, and discussed with them all the issues that concern them in their daily lives.
We are here to convey the message that, as far as we are concerned, there are no second-class citizens.
No citizen is on their own, no matter how far they live from the city center. For us, there is no forgotten corner in our Attica.
Antikythera is an island of exceptional natural beauty that adds historical—and other—value to our region of Attica.
Our primary goal is to improve citizens’ daily lives in every way possible through projects and initiatives that will enhance accessibility, safety, entrepreneurship, and, above all, social cohesion.
Let’s ensure that all the necessary conditions are in place so that the residents of Antikythira can stay and build a life in their hometown, with a sense of hope and dignity for themselves and their children. And above all, we must encourage them to return to the island so that it can come back to life.
