- The construction contract for the project was signed «Maintenance of Tanks and Pumping Stations – Phase III». This is the third phase of the comprehensive maintenance and renovation of the water supply infrastructure (reservoirs, pumping stations, and valve stations) that began in 2015 and is now nearing completion. The project has a budget of 100.400,00€ and is funded by the FILODIMOS II Program. A comprehensive renovation and maintenance of the following infrastructure is planned: the Gerakario Water Tower, the central reservoirs in Potamos (TACAN), 2η Diakofto Reservoir, 2 Petrouni Reservoirs, the Viaradikon reservoir, 2 reservoirs at the Viaradikon Spring, the Kryovrysi pumping station, the Agia Pelagia reservoir, a small building at the Psoma site, 3 reservoirs in Antikythira. The contractor is Theano Christou (Civil Engineer), and the final cost of the project, after the discount (33%), amounts to €67,887.69. The deadline for completion is 8 months.
- It has begun operations new water reservoir in Platia Ammo, with a capacity of 100 cubic, which was built at the «Agios Prokopios» site on a plot of land graciously donated by the Church Council of the Holy Temple for this purpose. The project had been a long-standing request of the area’s residents, as the reservoir used until recently had a very small capacity and was insufficient to meet the settlement’s water supply needs.
- The connection of the «Lazarianika» settlement in the Karvounades Community to the municipal water supply network has been completed. Lazarianika did not have a water supply system, and this project had been a long-standing request of the area’s residents.
- The following were connected to the power grid: new boreholes at the «Disternia,» «Kokkinochorafa (2),» and «Agriosykia» sites». The first two will become operational immediately, as the water supply networks have already been constructed, and will significantly improve service to the areas of Agia Pelagia, Paleopolis, and Avlemonas. The well at the «Agriosykia» site will become operational after the construction of the connection network to the Agia Pelagia reservoir, for which a contract has already been awarded.
- Installed Second iron and manganese removal filter at the Petrouni well, with the aim of improving the quality of the water supplied.
- The Rehabilitation and improvement of the water intake system at the «Gonia» site» of the Mitata Community. A significant amount of water was conserved, which will meet the needs of the settlements: Mitata, Frilingianika, Aloizianika, Aroniadika, Vamvakaradika, Pitsinades, Dokana, and Kypriotianika—that is, the area of the island with the most challenging water supply situation.
- The following has begun operations: portable desalination unit in Antikythera, which will once again meet the island’s water supply needs this year, thanks to emergency funding from the Ministry of Shipping and Island Policy. It should be noted that, through the TRITSIS Program, the procurement of a permanent desalination plant in Antikythira has been approved, with a capacity of 100 cubic meters per day, which will be put out to tender in the coming months (along with the desalination plants in Kapsali and Palaiopolis-Avlemonas).
