The President of the Hellenic Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Konstantinos Michalos, breathed his last breath at noon inside his factory in Kryoneri where the fire front is raging!
According to reports, Mr Michalos suffered a cardiac arrest.
According to initial information, Mr Michalos was found by his wife in his office and was evacuated by ambulance to the EKAV in KAT.
Biography
Konstantinos Michalos was born in 1960, and studied Economics and Political Science at the University of Essex, UK, and did postgraduate studies in economics at the London School of Economics & Political Science.
Since March 2012, he has been President of the Central Union of Greek Chambers of Commerce and Industry, and since 2006, President of the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry (a position to which he was re-elected in December 2011).
Since 1988 he was President and CEO of the industrial-export company SWAN S.A. based in Kryoneri, Attica.
From 1993 to 2005 he was an elected member of the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Chamber of Commerce and Industry, where he held the position of Financial Supervisor from 1998 to 2002.
In 2002 he was elected member of the Board of Directors of the Arab-Hellenic Chamber of Commerce and in 2004 Vice President, while in 2003 he was elected President of the Business Association of North Attica.
In 2004-2005 he was Special Advisor to the Ministry of Development.
In 2005-2006 he was Secretary General at the Ministry of Economy & Finance.
In 2007 he was elected member of the Board of Directors of PPC.
In 2009 he was elected member of the Board of Directors of OTE.
In 2012 he was elected member of the Board of Directors of ASTIR PALACE S.A. and of the Board of Directors of Athens International Airport S.A.
Konstantinos Michalos was married with four children and spoke English and French.
