Mitsotakis to Sisi: Turkey's role is destabilizing

Dialogue with respect for international law.

Meeting with the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Abdel Fattah al-Sisi had the Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, in Maximos Mansion, on the sidelines of the 9th Trilateral Summit of Greece - Cyprus - Egypt.

At the meeting of the two leaders, confirmed the excellent level of bilateral relations, while emphasis was placed on the energy and defence sectors. They also discussed developments in the Mediterranean and the wider region, which call for the development of the EU-Egypt strategic relationship.

The Prime Minister briefed the President of Egypt on Turkey's recent provocative moves, stressing its destabilizing role in the wider region. He reiterated readiness for dialogue and re-engagement on the condition of respect for international legitimacy, sovereignty and sovereign rights of our country and refraining from provocative actions. Furthermore, he informed Mr. Sisi of Greece's recent strategic moves in the diplomatic field, which confirm and strengthen its role as a pillar of stability and security in the wider region and open up new prospects for closer cooperation with countries that share the same priorities for Eastern Mediterranean, like our friend Egypt.

They also discussed the latest developments in the Cyprus issue and Lebanon, a country with which Greece, Cyprus and Egypt maintain excellent relations and to which they provide constant support, as well as developments in Libya and the prospects for the country after the elections.

From the Greek side, the expanded meeting was attended by Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias, Minister of Environment and Energy Costas Skrekas, Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Diplomacy and Extroversion, Costas Fragogiannis, the Director of the Prime Minister's Diplomatic Office, Ambassador Eleni Surani, the National Security Advisor, Thanos Dokos and the Deputy Government Spokesperson, Aristotelia Peloni.
