In a post on social media Kyriakos Mitsotakis commented on the fact that last Friday, for the first time, 100% of the demand for electricity from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. was met% from renewable energy sources (RES).
Seventh place worldwide in 2021
«On October 7, renewable energy sources met Greece’s entire electricity demand for the first time for 5 hours. This is a significant milestone, as Greece is rapidly emerging as a leader in renewable energy —ranking 7th globally in 2021 in solar and wind energy as a share of total electricity production,» the prime minister wrote in English on Twitter.

It should be noted that on Friday, not only was electricity demand met by renewable energy sources, but generation briefly exceeded demand; according to ADMIE data, production from renewable energy plants connected to the high- and extra-high-voltage grids ranged from 98% to 121%, exceeding the net load on the Transmission System.
