The MEP of the South West, George Kyrtsos, in a statement he said that Eleni Touloupaki's positions «will resonate with the EU», strongly criticising the government both for the prosecution of journalists and the prosecutor and for the fact that «the government has not turned against the Novartis».
In his post, C. Kirtos writes that «the prosecution against Touloupakis is a delicate international political case» and adds: «Touloupaki is fighting back politically, institutionally. She denounces interference in justice, Novartis scandal cover-up. Its positions will resonate with the EU, as long as the government and the public sector have not turned against Novartis.».

He adds in a second tweet, «The government is embarking on a European adventure. The combination of the prosecution of journalists, the prosecution of a judicial official on the grounds that they took part in the «Novartis plot» and the immunity of the multinational itself, exposes Mitsotakis, the government to the EU. Everyone sees it, not Maximou.».

It is recalled that the MEP of SYRIZA, Stelios Kouloglou, on Tuesday, in a letter to the Intergroup Committee against Corruption of the European Parliament, requested that the prosecuting prosecutor Eleni Touloupaki be called for a hearing.
In his letter he said:
«Proposal to organise a hearing with the persecuted Greek prosecutor Eleni Touloupaki
Dear colleagues, I am forced to return to the case of the Novartis corruption scandal and inform you of the latest, particularly worrying, developments.
The prosecutor Eleni Touloupaki, who handled the case as head of the Corruption Prosecutor's Office, is called by the Greek Justice as an accused!
The prosecutor who investigated the criminal responsibility of politicians is called to apologize for the offences of criminal organization - gang, and breach of duty. She is accused of “incriminating political figures” and “pressuring witnesses in the case” in order to obtain their statements.
They were preceded by:
► the abolition of the institution of the Corruption Prosecutor's Office, which was deprived of the file and the possibility of further investigation of the case.
► threats against her from political figures allegedly involved in the scandal,
► threats against protected witnesses and constant attempts to reveal their identity.
► the recent summons to apologise to the journalists who investigated the case, on charges of involvement in a “criminal organisation”, a development I have recently informed you about.
► the controversial, legally controversial, filing of charges against a government minister
The prosecutor Eleni Touloupaki, after her call to apologize, speaks of institutional diversion and denounces crude political interference, slanderous attacks and threats against her, in order to stop the investigation of the case and find herself accused.
As these developments indicate a serious questioning of the independence and manipulation of the judiciary in Greece, I propose that at the next meeting of the Anti-Corruption Committee, Ms Touloupaki be called for a hearing. I am also informing the European Prosecutor General Laura Covesi of all developments.
