The «barrage» of «fires» of meteorologists against the government continues unabated, after its attempt to «blame» them for its failure to manage the bad weather, charging them with «untimely forecasting» of the severity of the phenomenon.
The last answer is that of the meteorologist, Clearchos Marousakis in a post on his personal Facebook account.
Listing the cases that he has warned about the danger of weather phenomena, he leaves clear points to the government and local government, saying that «if we want to assign responsibility, we must assign it where it is due because otherwise we will experience one of the same next time».
«I hope the next time you come out and say “the state machine is ready to deal with bad weather”, you don't mean the preparedness you showed in this bad weather.», says Klearchos Marousakis noting that it is «the third day of bad weather and I am still waiting for a snowplow to pass through the main streets of my neighborhood».

«After what has been made public about whether the forecasts were sufficient to mobilize the state in time and as a scientist who has a public platform through the TV station I work for, OPEN - The Open Channel, and who is responsible for the weather forecast, I feel the need to report the following.
- Since January 6, on the day of Christmas, in my post through my personal account here on Facebook and which was published in many informative websites, on the radio and on TV stations, I spoke about the anticyclone that began to develop in northwestern Europe “OMEGA EMPODISTS” and which would most likely bring heavy winter in our country with polar cold and lots of snow even at low altitudes in Attica in the second half of January.

“POSSIBLE HEAVY WINTER IN THE SECOND HALF OF THE MONTH
The flow of the forecast data wants in the second half of January the Winter to show us its teeth for good with very cold temperatures and snow to make their appearance even at very low altitudes. It would not be surprising if during this period we would see snow “knocking” on the door of Attica as there are indications that the Azores anticyclone will combine with the Siberian leading to very cold weather in our region. We are watching this development where although distant as a forecast it is worth taking into account in combination with the needs of each of us. ”

- More than a week before the onset of bad weather through all the informative / entertainment broadcasts of the TV station OPEN - The Open Channel we were constantly informed about the polar cold coming and even said that it might remind the corresponding last year's wave and that chains will be needed in the center of Athens.
The latter was also published on many websites as it seemed “extreme” as an assessment and even the journalists from the news department of the TV station I work for insisted and kept asking me if such an assessment was really valid when I was emphasizing this when I was live on the news.
- On Sunday, on the main newscast of our television station OPEN - The Open Channel with Yannis Papadopoulos, we gave detailed information on the development of the bad weather. In fact, we TONISAME that the bad weather comes earlier and would “hit” before noon creating problems in the movement of citizens. Weather forecasting is a chaotic phenomenon. The solution of mathematical equations is approximate. Weather models simulate the situation.
How is it possible to demand to have an accurate forecast in terms of space and time? For those who have been through the university benches and taught Meteorology, they learn this from the first days of classes. In a chaotic system we are asking EXACTLY what time the phenomenon will start?
If we want to assign responsibility, let's assign it where it belongs, because otherwise we'll have one of the same things next time.
P.S. Third day of bad weather and I'm still waiting for a snowplow to pass through CENTRAL streets in my neighborhood. 40 to 60 inches of snow that is now freezing and if knock wood happens something even an ambulance can't get close.
Luckily my neighbour Nikos Bomber Sp had a special car and I was able to get home to meet my wife who had been struggling alone for two days with power and phone cuts and the snow outside growing instantly.
