A Multithematic Initiative on the Memories of the Sea and Its Peoples

1. ”Archipelago” – “Archipelago”

Exhibition by the visual arts group Chorus Effect | Opening: Sunday, June 14 | | Potamos Philharmonic Hall | Open every Sunday 11:00-14:00

We invite you to our new exhibition, curated and organized by the art collective “CHORUS EFFECT” (Masha Zusman, Maria Schina, Valery Bolotin) which takes place in the Philharmonic Hall (upper floor) in Potamos, organized by the Sunday, June 14 and it is open all summer long, every Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Through the unique perspective of its curators, the exhibition presents the personal collections of 24 residents of Kythira: «These collections are not presented here as rare archives or valuable artifacts, but as tangible expressions of personal stories and relationships.».

The diversity of these collections reflects the human diversity of Kythira itself—an island shaped by centuries of migration, migration, and exchange—and which continues to thrive as a multicultural crossroads at the heart of the Mediterranean.

2. “Testimonies” – “Testimonies”

|Presentations, screenings, and songs about refugees and migration | Thursday, July 16, 9:00 p.m. | “Hidden Retreats” summer residences (on the road between Karava and Ammos Square). Free entrance.

  • Azhar, Masa, Anaid, Helen, Omar, and Simone They will share their personal and family stories of resettlement, refugeehood, and migration with the audience in real time. They will tell us about their peoples: the Palestinians and Armenians who were uprooted from their homelands, the Greeks who were forced into exile, the Ukrainians who sought a new homeland, and the Italians who continue to travel throughout the Mediterranean.
  • His short film will be screened By Giorgos Didymiotis, “My Beloved Mother” featuring interviews with economic migrants in Kythira.
  • The short film will be screened “Swallows” by the Kythira High School Film Club.
  • Η Chloe Caberu She will sing traditional Greek songs about emigration and life as a refugee.

Most of the presentations will be in English. There will be a QR code with a translation on the screen for whomever he wishes.

The films will have English subtitles.

3. Images of the Sea (concert)

Concert featuring works by the composer Panagiotis Leftheris with the Helichrysum Trio – Eleni Marini, piano, Elli Papagrigoriou, violin, Stamatia Sgouropoulou, cello – and the Marianna Agnidi , storytelling and singing, the Manousos Ploumidis, clarinet, and the Niko Katritzidakis, flute | Wednesday, August 26, 8:30 p.m. Zeidoros Multipurpose Center, Kapsali | Admission: 15 euros. |

His new work will be premiered Panagiotis Lefteris, “Images of the Sea” for violin, cello, piano, and narrator-singer. The work was written specifically for this evening and was funded by the Ministry of Culture. A work by the same composer will also be performed “Tapes & Photos” for flute, clarinet, and piano, with a video presentation in between.
