French President Emmanuel Macron had a telephone conversation today (4/3) with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, sources close to the French presidential Elysée Palace said.
The French president expressed France's solidarity with Spain in the wake of recent US accusations and threats of economic sanctions by US President Donald Trump, following Madrid's refusal to allow the United States to use its base in Andalusia in the war against Iran.
Finally, French government spokeswoman Maud Breson said, shortly after the cabinet meeting in Paris, that President Macron has decided to convene the French Defence and Security Council this evening, for the fourth time in recent days.
