In a letter to the president of the city council, which he communicated to the media, the councillor Nikolaos Magoulas, explaining the reasons for his absence from the 5th meeting of the city council on 31 May.

Mr President of the City Council, dear colleagues,

This email is to inform you that I will not be attending the 5th meeting of the city council. As everyone knows I am a freelancer and when council meetings are held during working hours they deprive my family of their livelihood. Even more so when the Callicrates legislator himself has stipulated that the meetings should be held in the afternoon and evening hours. I denounce this ongoing practice, which is being carried out at the behest of the municipal administration, despite the repeated calls by the entire opposition for the law to be implemented.

I denounce the continuing devaluation of the institution of the city council and the role of the councillors by sending the proposals only a few hours before the meeting. I denounce the undemocratic practices, with the refusal to hold in-person meetings, although in the Kythera, the COVID protection vaccination has been completed. Mr President, unfortunately you have forgotten that you have been voted for this position of ultimate responsibility by the entire city council, and unfortunately your name will be associated with a dark period for the democracy of this country.
