Their reservations about the intention of the government to open up economic and social activity in the near future, say the experts. In recent television statements, both the Athanasios Skoutelis as well as the Athanasios Exadaktylos, expressed a common question as to whether the restrictive measures have been respected in substance.
Specifically, Professor and member of the Commission, Athanasios Skoutelis spoke about measures, their implementation, their removal and the meeting on Friday which will decide a lot.
«We are at the peak of the desire for openness and at the nadir of the implementation of measures. The only way to open up is to faithfully comply with the measures to the maximum extent, but experience so far has shown that we are not complying,» Professor and member of the Commission Athanasios Skoutelis.
«The question is when and under what conditions. Now I don't know if we are capable of shouldering the burden. Let's not forget tourism, it's not a question of if they will come, but where the vaccinated people will go,» were his words when asked regarding the lifting of the lockdown.
At the same time, the president of the Panhellenic Medical Association, Athanasios Exadaktylos, spoke to MEGA, regarding the issue of the ordering of doctors in the private sector for which the Minister of Health spoke, but also the effects that may have the gradual opening society, in accordance with the government's planning.
«I don't have full information about what is happening with the private sector doctors, whom Mr Kikilias talked about retiring. We need to understand that there are not unlimited numbers of doctors in these specialties that are not already employed in the community. Because we are in a phase of great difficulty, let us hope that we can avoid fulfilling the ultimatum. The ultimatums is not the most attractive way to approach scientists at the moment. Of course, doctors should already have been appointed in public hospitals. But let's stick to the desire of everyone to help solve the problem and hope things go smoothly. Together with the movement of private doctors will have to move their patients to hospitals as well,» he said.
«The question is how many private doctors can offer, and who don't already have places where they work offering. The issue is how we make sure that no harm comes from this move. I don't know how many doctors that can be checked. If every bed in the country is filled with coronavirus patients, private and public, then other conditions will cause problems. It is not simple to take all the beds the country has and make them covid. Already private hospitals are taking non covid cases,» he continued.
«There was no reluctance of private doctors, not even in November in Thessaloniki. We know that doctors had declared themselves available and could not be absorbed into the system. In Thessaloniki even today, patients with other conditions are still being transferred from the state system to the private sector,» he explained.
Referring to the plan for a gradual opening of society and the economy, Mr.Exadaktylos said: «I don't know whether the 22nd or the 29th is the right Date to open up the retail trade. The equation is a difficult one, and I will give my opinion tomorrow in committee. It would be best if opinions were not heard in public. We see that the pandemic is unfortunately expanding, not stabilizing. We will have to see whether the measures are being adhered to; simply taking measures does not work.
«Opening schools and retail at the same time is not sustainable at this time. I don't know if either one can open. Clearly, however, both should not open at the same time,» he said.
